MIKE HILL, BARRISTER

A unique perspective

I have been at the Bar since 2004.  Before that I was a general dental practitioner for almost 15 years.  I was a partner in two practices between Newcastle and Sunderland and taught intravenous sedation at Newcastle Dental School.  In the nineties I ran a dental clinic for the government of the Republic of Seychelles for a year and was a dentist in two orphanages abroad.

Early in my career at the bar I was instructed in crime and civil cases, acting for the Crown, claimants and defendants. Later, my background made it a natural step into clinical negligence and that is my sole specialism now.

Approximately 50% of my work is dental negligence and the other 50%  is non-dental clinical negligence.  Naturally I act for both claimants and defendants.

I hope that my experience in my former career can bring something to my work at the bar.  It certainly helps me guide both lay and professional clients - and judges -through the maze of medical records and nomenclature.

I hope that my November 2018 move from Trinity Chambers to Parklane Plowden Chambers will further improve the service I can provide to both lay and professional clients.
